The process will consist of;
The application requires the following:
Heats
Once the recordings have been independently reviewed by a panel of adjudicators. There will be up to 20 applicants selected to compete in the heats on Friday 6th March in Queen’s University, Belfast - The Harty Room
All competitors are welcome to perform a maximum of 15 minutes. Applicants are asked to provide a programme consisting of three pieces in which the adjudicating panel will choose two pieces to hear from on the day of the heats. The programme should include repertoire from the following genres: one Lieder/Art song, one Irish folk song and one operatic Aria.
Flax Trust Music Awards Grand Final
Three finalists will be selected to compete in the Flax Trust Music Awards Grand Final at Queen's University, Belfast - the Harty Room.
The following prizes will be available:
Winner: £3,000 bursary to further the winner’s musical development and the Flax Trust Music Award Trophy;
2nd Place: £2,000 bursary for second prize
3rd Place: £1,000 bursary for third prize
All awards will be presented at the Flax Trust Music Awards Grand Final.
- An application - Deadline: Thursday 6th February, 2020.
- Adjudication of recordings
- If successful, heats will run at Queen’s University, Belfast - The Harty Room, Friday 6th March 2020.
- The Flax Trust Music Awards Grand Final in the Harty Room at Queen's University, Belfast on Saturday 9th May 2020.
The application requires the following:
- Complete the application form and post to Flax Trust Arts, Brookfield Business Centre, 333 Crumlin Rd, Belfast BT14 7EA by the deadline.
- Send a CD with a recent recording of one Lieder/Art song, an Operatic Aria and one Irish Folk song signed by a referee. Also upload your recording via WeTransfer.com and send to ftmawards@gmail.com
- A signed reference supporting your application.
- A copy of the music you wish to compete with in the heats (single sided A4 pages).
